“But today we want to call for a renewed vigour by all Christians, churches and organisations to make real the love of Christ in Ireland on at least one ‘love your neighbour’ issue each month.”
“You know best what your community needs most to experience the love of Christ in action” Sean Mullan said.
EAI has created this special website (which is still under construction) but will include a range of things - big and small - that individuals or groups can do to show the love of Christ in their communities.
“The spirit in which these conscious acts of kindness are undertaken must, of course, reflect the attitude which God requires of us” Sean Mullan said. “That is to do justice, love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” he added.
A number of community organisations were represented at the launch and made short presentations showing how their work made real God’s command to ‘love your neighbour’.
CORE Church of Ireland, Dublin – Rev. Jonathan Kissel
HACKETSTOWN CHRISTIAN CENTRE, Co. Carlow – Elizabeth Byrne
URBAN SOUL, Dublin - Scott Evans
ST VINCENT DE PAUL - Professor John Monaghan (SVP Vice-President)
Thanking the guest organisations for their support, Sean Mullan (EAI) concluded the campaign launch by calling for immediate action by all people of goodwill in Ireland.
"Never were people in Ireland more in need of a little love" he said. "Jesus showed what real love is - and I'm calling on all Christians in particular to make His love real in our community this year."
